I was born and raised in Omaha, Nebraska. Now I am raising a family of my own here. I have three rambunctious boys and a beautiful wife. I graduated with a BFA from University of Nebraska, I am a huge comic book fan, and I dream of supporting my family doing what I love and using the skills that God has provided me with.
I believe art is about communication. Our emotions, ideas, principles and life experiences all have stories that can be conveyed with some media of art. My drawings are influenced by the art of storytelling; communicating with my audience using a visual narrative.
Stories of all kinds inspire my work. I am attracted to fictitious stories, as those stretch the imagination, open doors, and provoke different lines of thought. My favorite fiction stories have always been comics, since they combine both visual and narrative communication. As a child I was completely taken by the visual language comics used. The heroic figures, dramatic poses, bold use of color and the action had me hooked. I strive to use this powerful visual language in my work.
My faith in God also informs my work. Combining biblical truths with dynamic visuals, I hope to grab your attention. I hope to provoke you to investigate the stories of the Bible for yourselves.
My working technique usually starts with pencil sketches while i work up an idea. Then I may take the pencils to a finished image, or I may use other mediums to finish the image such as; copic markers, colored pencils, paint sticks, or even digital rendering.
In the end though it's all about the stories. The stories and my art may be simple or complex. The story maybe be obscure or blatantly obvious but there is always a story in my work.
